What's for lunch Wednesdays:Healthy Choice Crustless Chicken Pot Pie

This exciting new addition to our Top Chef inspired lineup was a Season 10 Elimination Challenge winner. It features juicy chicken breast tenderloins with carrots, corn, peas, and tender dumplings, all in a savory pot pie sauce.

Doesn't that sound tasty? Look at how delicious that photo is. And for 300 calories, sign me up! I picked this new Cafe Steamer up at the grocery store, in an attempt to rope in my lunch calories. I love savory, home style comfort foods, so this is right up my alley.

The instructions are easy. Just microwave for about 4 minutes. The plastic wrap doesn't need to be punctured, and it steams the meal to keep the veggies crisp and juicy and the chicken soft.

This, is how the crustless pot pie looks when taken out of the package. Not surprisingly it looks completely unlike the photo. Do you see those four pieces of chicken? That's all there was. This was very skimpy on the protein.

After microwaving the meal, it has to be mixed in with the savory pot pie sauce, which appears to be a watery cream of chicken. The few pieces of chicken that were in the pot pie were ok, a little squishy. The dumplings were very tough and rubbery, and the rest is basically a bag of mixed veggies. Save yourself the experience and pass on this frozen lunch. I'll post a real chicken and dumplings recipe later this week- at a comparable price and calorie count.
