Julep Oxygen Nail Treatment Review Part 1

"Complete nail care and make-up all in one bottle. Made with a patented Hexanal formulation, nails are restructured to a stronger, thicker, and smoother condition in just one stroke. Advanced plant stem cell complex provides anti-aging benefits, while ground-breaking oxygen technology forms a nonocclusive film on the nail, proving resistant to water penetration and improving the permeability to oxygen. Results are nails that are structurally stronger, and less prone to breakage and splitting. How to use: Apply in layers on clean nails to achieve desired high gloss and subtle “Nail Makeup.” Use once or twice a week regularly to promote strong, healthy nail growth."

I received this nail treatment in a Maven box along with my monthly nail polishes, and was super excited to give it a shot! I am going through the awful shedding hair and breaking nails post-partum process, and I hope that this will help strengthen my nails and keep them from peeling and splitting.

This is a photo of my naked nails. My nail beds are short, and so I have a lot of problems with the free end breaking off by the time they reach the end of my fingertip. This picture is approximately a week after my latest pinky and thumb break, and two since the index, middle and ring.

I'm going to apply the nail treatment as directed for two weeks, and will check back in with my results. The bottle of Oxygen is exactly like those of other Julep polishes. It holds a little over a .25 fluid ounce, which isn't very much product.

Oxygen has a very light, sheer pink tint to it. It smooths itself out well, and I think it looks best with just one coat. The release states to try multiple layers for high gloss and a subtle nail make-up look, but I find that on the second layer it gets streaky and the color looks like a cheap pink.

My initial thoughts are that I feel like the product isn't worth the price ($18 retail, $14 for Julep Mavens). It was a lovely bonus to the nail polishes that I received in my Maven box, but at this point I probably wouldn't purchase this nail treatment on my own.  I have a similar nail product by Essie called Grow Stronger than holds .5 fluid ounce for half the retail price.
